General Questions

Do you deliver every film clips you shoot?

Q: Do you deliver every film clips you shoot?

A: No, we don’t deliver every film clip we shoot. We carefully select the best ones and discard duplicates, test shots, out-of-focus clips, and those with less favorable expressions to ensure the final product is top-notch. For instance, when using low apertures, we may take multiple shots to guarantee perfect focus. Since you might not have the time or expertise to sift through each clips for the sharpest one, we handle that for you. Similarly, while candid moments like laughter and tears often produce some of the most memorable film, they can sometimes include unflattering expressions. We might capture a few extras to ensure we provide the best possible representation of those moments. With our extensive experience processing of clips each year, we filter out the less ideal ones to deliver only the finest shots.

Q: Have you shot at my venue before?

A: We’ve filmed at hundreds of venues, so there’s a good chance we’re already acquainted with yours. If not, we’ll arrive early on the day of your event to scout the location and find the best spots for cinematography. We also conduct detailed online research ahead of time to ensure we’re fully prepared for your special day!

Q: Do you do destination weddings? What additional fees are associated with destination weddings?

A: Although Frame24Vision is based in Los Angeles and Orange County, we cater to clients worldwide. Our destination wedding videography packages do not include travel expenses. Additionally, due to our regular trips to the San Francisco Bay Area, we may offer special lower rates based on the specific details of your event. For more information, please contact us by clicking here.

Q: Which cinematographer will be shooting my wedding?

A: Generally, the cinematographer you meet with will also be the one who films your engagement session and wedding. If you have a preference for a specific cinematographer, let us know; otherwise, we’ll select based on factors like personality, availability, language skills, and referrals. For instance, if Ray shot a wedding for a friend who referred you, he would probably be the one meeting with you. Similarly, if you need someone who speaks Mandarin, Ray or Andrew would be the likely choices. To learn about any differences in style and quality between our cinematographers, click here.

Q: Do you provide partial day coverage?

A: We typically do provide partial day coverage on weekends.

Q: Does your studio do events, business projects, family portraits, newborn shoots, commercial videography, or other types of videography?

A: Yes, we have experience in many fields of videography. Feel free to contact us.

Q: Do you shoot Quinceaneras, Debutants, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, or Corporate Events?

A: Yes, all of these fall under ‘event videography.’ Our specialty is wedding and event photography, and we would be thrilled to capture your celebration.

Q: What if our ceremony is in a different language?

A: Our cinematographers are proficient in a variety of languages, including Mandarin, Cantonese, and more. Even if we don’t speak the primary language of the ceremony, we prepare thoroughly by researching the traditions and culture of the wedding. We also hold detailed meetings with our couples before the event to ensure we understand the key moments. On the day of the wedding, we rely on our experience and instincts to capture the emotions and stories of the day.

When it comes to editing, if our team doesn't understand the language spoken, we use a similar approach. We maintain strong communication with you to identify the important moments and look for key elements in English that help drive the narrative. This might include heartfelt toasts or personal messages exchanged during the wedding preparations.

While language differences can be challenging, our commitment to artistry, creativity, and storytelling ensures that we effectively capture and convey the essence of your celebration.

Style and Quality Questions

Q: What is your cinematography style?

A: The Frame24Vision Wedding Videography team is renowned for its distinctive approach, blending wedding video journalism with influences from fine art and fashion. We utilize creative lighting, innovative perspectives, unique angles, and artistic post-production techniques to highlight our clients' personalities and beauty while narrating their wedding story. We take pride in being more than just photographers; we are artists crafting unique and expressive imagery. To view examples of our work and see our quality and style, please visit our Portfolio.

Q: Can I see a full event from start to finish?

A: Absolutely! We take great pride in the consistency of our work. We understand that many videographer showcase only their best films online, which can make it difficult to gauge their performance on your wedding day. That's why we encourage all potential clients to view full event coverage from any videographers they are considering. This way, you can see how we perform throughout an entire day and assess our consistency and quality firsthand.

Q: My venue is very dark. How does your studio handle these situations and can I see samples?

A: We’re experienced in shooting in even the dimmest chapels and reception halls, so you don’t need to worry about lighting conditions! When possible, we’ll set up additional lighting to ensure well-focused video clips. For venues that are super dark, we use cameras with excellent low-light performance and lenses with wide apertures. Plus, we have SIX LIGHTS ready to server in extreme dark conditions. This way, we capture stunning videos regardless of the lighting situation.

Wedding Day Questions

Q: How many hours do you suggest we set aside for wedding day videos?

A: Check out our Ideal Wedding Videography Timeline for a detailed breakdown of the time needed to capture your wedding videos effectively.

Q: I have downtime between events on my wedding day. Will I be charged for that downtime?

A: We do not charge for the time in between events, if it is over 6 hours of coverage.  In many cases, we use that “downtime” to take you and your significant other out for a video shot.

Q: What happens if we go over the contracted amount of time?

A: We recognize that weddings can sometimes run over schedule. We ensure that we stay until the end of the contracted time and don’t leave right on the dot. As your event nears its conclusion, we'll ask if you'd like us to continue capturing moments. Should you choose to extend our coverage, we’ll charge according to the rates outlined in your contract, rounded to the nearest 30-minute increment.

Q: Why do we need to charge for additional coverage?

A: We devote the entire day to your wedding and won’t rush off to other commitments in the evening. However, extending our coverage does come with additional charges. These costs cover the extended time for our team, including extra compensation for our shooters and lighting assistants, as well as the added expense of post-production for any extra footage.

Business Insurance and Video Backup Questions

Q: Do you back up our files? How can we ensure that our files won’t be lost?

A: We have a rigorous backup workflow in place to ensure that no files are ever lost from a wedding. Here’s how we manage it:

  1. Dual Card Shooting: During the event, we capture clips on two memory cards simultaneously, creating an immediate backup of every shot.

  2. Separation of Cards: After the event, we separate the primary cards from the backup cards to mitigate risks.

  3. Local and Offsite Backup: We then back up the files to a local server configured in RAID 1, which provides redundancy. Additionally, we copy the files to an offsite hard drive.

Before delivering any files , there are always two copies of the files stored in different locations, ensuring the highest level of security.

Q: Do you have liability insurance?

A: Yes. Many venues require the videographers to have Liability Insurance. So before hiring someone, make sure they are covered.

Payment and Tax Questions

Q: How do I reserve you for my date?
A: All dates are reserved once we receive your signed contract and deposit.

Q: What if we exceed our contracted time for our engagement shoot and/or wedding day coverage?
A: Standard rates apply for overtime. Overtime is billed at the rate of $200/hour.

Q: Is there an additional fee if we pay via credit card?
A: Yes. The retail adjustment fee for all credit card transactions is 3% of the charged amount.

Q: If we cancel the wedding, will we receive our retainer fee back?
A: Unfortunately, retainer fees are non-refundable. They are used to secure your date, and once your date is reserved, we do not accept new clients for that date.

Q: If we change our wedding to a different date, will we be able to use our retainer fee towards a future date?
A: Generally no, but this is taken on a case by case basis. The reason for canceling and our availability is taken into account. Also, if rates change from your original date to your new date, the new rates will apply.

Q: Are there travel fees associated with the engagement session and/or wedding day shoot(s)?
A: All travel expenses are based on the distance between your event location(s).

Q: Why do you charge travel fees?

A: The primary purpose of these fees is to fairly compensate our videographers and lighting assistants for the additional time and effort involved in travel. For instance, trips to San Francisco require long flights each way, which means we need to cover our team’s time as well as actual travel expenses. To account for these factors, these fees are necessary.

Q: Do you offer any discounts on weekday weddings, Sunday weddings, or weddings during the off-season?

A: We do not offer discounts for Sunday weddings, off-season weddings, or weekday weddings. In sunny California, wedding season is nearly year-round, and we are busy throughout the year. Additionally, the costs associated with weddings, such as second shooter rates, remain consistent regardless of the day of the week or season.

Q: If I pay for my package in cash will we be able to avoid paying sales tax or receive a discount?

A: Unfortunately, paying in cash does not exempt a studio from California sales tax on the package price when a physical product, such as an album, is delivered. However, we do offer tax-free service-only packages that comply with California State Law if you prefer a package that excludes physical products.
